SYDNEY [IFN] --- Among farmers and cattle industry of Australia is now in uncertainty and waiting for the generosity of the Indonesian government to open the tap permits greater import, Australia Plus reported.
They hope that by the end of the Australian cattle import permit first quarter ending March 2015, the Indonesian government will increase the quota of at least up to 250 thousand head of cattle for the second quarter April-June 2015.
Hope the Australian cattle breeders and exporters gaining currency since last week. According to information obtained by the ABC, the Indonesian government reportedly will announce the amount of the quota, Thursday, March 26, 2015.
Admittedly, no exact figure how many quotas will be issued government of Indonesia, causing ongoing problems for farmers and exporters of Australian cattle.
According to Gary Riggs, cattle ranchers from Lakefield Station in the Northern Territory, the allocation of import licenses issued by the Indonesian government each quarter end, have an impact on how to manage the shipment of cattle, which in turn impact the breeder.
Gary Riggs himself has scheduled a cow cattle to be shipped in April, but was postponed due to the lack of certainty the amount of quota from Indonesia.
"Because of Indonesian import permit has not come out, exporters then offer the cattle shipments to Vietnam," he explained.
That is, Riggs had to rearrange their livestock. "It makes me was chaotic, and had to hire part-time workers," he said.
Riggs himself has signed a sales contract in December 2014 and his cow, and although now the price of 10 cents per kilo more expensive but he admitted quite satisfied with the old price.
