BI examine the withdrawal application chip card technology



JAKARTA [IFN]  Bank Indonesia (BI) is still reviewing the request delay deadlines application of technology ATM / Debit card using micro chip Indonesian National Standard of Chip Card Specification (NSICCS).

However, the Association of Indonesian Payment System (ASPI) and banks still ask for reimbursement of all ATM / Debit card extended 5 years until the end of 2020. On the same occasion, the Chairman of ASPI, Darmadi Sutanto said, to print about 100 million chip cards takes over 5 years .

A senior official said, ASPI has proposed the implementation of BI to NSICCS National Standard of Indonesia Chip Card Specification (NSICCS) remains began in 2015. However, replacement of all debit card into the chip NSICCS that extended up to 5 years up to the end of 2020.

In addition to asking for delayed, ASPI also asked for five years it can read magnetic cards and chips. Therefore, ATMs and EDC should be designed to be able to read both of these technologies, so that implementation can be feasible to implement.

According to a senior official, replacement of magnetic stripe ATM cards to new micro chip also can be applied to an ATM and can not be applied to the EDC. Because the manager of the EDC is not ready.
