Indosat claimed to have standardized security system audit

JAKARTA - Management telecommunications operator Indosat respond to the issue of wiretaps conducted by asserting Australia has had an audit of network security system with international standards ISO 27001 and ISO 31000.

"We also comply with the appropriate lawful interception provisions laid down and insisted we do not have cooperation with foreign parties that aims to conduct wiretaps," said President Director & CEO of Indosat Alexander Rusli in a press release received by AFP, here on Saturday.

Alex in the press siaean published Friday (6/3) also confirms its public network system has been used as the standard set by the government.

"And the only permitted wiretapping is carried by the official state institutions based on the rule of law," he said.

In accordance with Law No. 36 of 1999 on Telecommunications, the telecom operators only provide interception facilities to law enforcement officials.

The whole device is operator also has a certificate from the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology accordance MCIT Regulation No. 29 Year 2008 on Certification of Telecommunication Tools and Equipment.

Alex added, the operator has the auditing standards that include the implementation of security controls, business processes, compliance with policies and technical testing of the network vulnerabilities, so that network security is maintained.

Therefore, Indosat explicitly stated that there was no cooperation tapping with outsiders, especially with foreigners.

"Because obviously it violates applicable laws and harm the interests of the state and the nation of Indonesia itself," said Alex.

Previously, MCIT Rudiantara ask telecom operators Telkomsel and Indosat to check each network following the interception of foreign intelligence services to a number of Indonesian officials since 2009.
