BOGOTA - An earthquake measuring 6.6 on the Richter scale (SR) rocked northeastern Colombia on Tuesday afternoon (10/3) at 15:47 local time, or Wednesday pm.
Seismology Department of Colombia noted, the epicenter was at a distance of 7.4 kilometers from the Mesa de los Santos, the capital of the Department of Santander.
"There are no reports of casualties after an earthquake of 6.6 on the Richter Scale rocked large parts of Colombia," said Colombian network, Caracol.
Two electricity pylons collapsed in the quake, and cause public confusion. "It caused a big fear," said the Colombian network.
The earthquake was also felt in Bogota, Colombia National Capital, and other areas including Bucaramanga, Medellin, Manizales, Costa Atlantica, the entire Department of Boyaca, and to the north-east region, which borders Venezuela.
In Bogota, high-rise building in downtown was emptied. Workers poured out during the event occurs. The earthquake has disrupted the mobile network a few minutes after the shock.
According to one resident, Ismael Oviedo (65 years), this earthquake could cause panic. "It's reminiscent of the events that occurred 20 years ago," he said.
