Five mobile phone operators to convey the results of the investigation wiretapping Sim-Card

JAKARTA -  Head of Information and Public Relations of the Ministry of Communications and Information Ismail Cawidu say five operator has submitted the results of their internal investigation related to wiretapping issue Sim-Card Technology Regulatory Agency of Indonesia (ITRB).

"As a result they claimed did not find any leaks in the Sim-Card them," said Head of Information and Public Relations of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology Ismail Cawidu on Tuesday.

ITRB previously had asked all mobile cellular network operator (operator) to conduct an internal investigation on the issue of alleged wiretapping conducted intelligence agencies the United States National Security Agency (NSA) and the British intelligence agency Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ), through product Sim-Card issued by a Dutch company, Gemalto NV

It was, according to documents released by Edward Snowden. According to the document, the NSA and GCHQ have to dismantle the security key on the SIM card.

Five mobile cellular network operator (operator) who has reported the results of its investigation to the ITRB namely Indonesia PT Hutchison 3 (3), PT XL Axiata (XL), PT Indosat (Indosat), PT Sampoerna Telekomunikasi Indonesia (Cheers), and PT Telecommunications Cellular ( Telkomsel).

Of the five operators, according to Ismail, four of them use Sim-Card products from Gemalto NV "Telkomsel, XL, Hutchinson 3, Indosat," he said.

Ismail added that operators also ensure that the Sim-Card providers they use has met GSM Security Standard.

According to him, the two operators, namely B-Tel and Smartfren still report the results of its investigation. "We're still waiting," he said.
