Google opens first ever Google Shop in London

JAKARTA -  Google has opened its first physical store located at Currys PC World, Tottenham Court Road, London.

"We are very excited about launching this store - the first store in the world - in London with Currys PC World," said James Elias, Google UK marketing director, as reported by The Telegraph.

Store called Google Shop sells various brands of Android phones and tablets, laptops Chromebook, and TV services Chromecast.

The store will also hold a tutorial to customers to demonstrate how to use these devices and held demonstrations to show off the mainstay of Google applications.

This is the first time Google has opened up shop under his own name. This shows how the online companies are increasingly looking for ways to get close to the customer through a physical store where online stores Amazon is also expected to consider opening a physical store in New York.

Google previously open shop "Chromezone" in Tottenham Court Road in 2011, which was then managed by Dixons, Currys PC World owner. Google also has opened shop "Androidland" in Australia.

However, this is the first time Google has opened the store with his own name. This store will operate as a "shop in shop" at Currys PC Word.

Furthermore, Google is planning to open two more stores in Currys PC Worlds in Fulham, West London, and in Thurrock, Essex.

"The pace of innovation in devices that we use is very unusual, but the way we buy the device remains the same over the years. With the Google store, we want to offer people a place where they can play, experiment and learn about all of the Google offer, ranging from device to really connect in the online life, "said Elias.

The store will also hold classes on online safety and how to use Google tools, as well as events such as the "Virtual Space Camps" to teach children the basics of coding and "Open House" where teachers can test the potential educational tool to be used .

Google Shop is equipped with a large screen called "portal" that allows users to "fly" to the rest of the world using Google Earth, or can be "Doodle Wall" where visitors can paint their own Google logo creation, and also the "Chromecast Pod" where visitors can watch movies on Google Play and YouTube.

"We are very pleased to partner with Google, bring it to one of our stores. This will be a new and innovative way for customers to engage in the shop, interact with technology in a more tangible, and have fun while learning," said Ainsley Sykes, senior project manager Currys PC World.

"Google Experts will be brought to maximize the experience gained by the user and provide assistance and support to the entire ecosystem of Google. The shop is an interactive and informative space we created for all customers who visit our stores," he added, according to The Telegraph.
