CAIRO - A California resident, Craig Monteilh explained how the FBI infiltrated the mosque for years. Monteilh was an FBI informant who spied on innocent Muslims in an attempt to trick them into extremist rhetoric.
"The FBI pays me to infiltrate mosques in Los Angeles and Orange County in Southern California, as a very extensive surveillance operation to give them personal information Muslims," said Monteilh reported OnIslam (3/5/2015).
He claimed to be recruited by the FBI from July 2006 to October 2007. In Operation Flex, Monteilh said he put a tape recorder in the office of a priest and a Muslim student.
In an informant he get intensive training, where he learned to pretend to be Muslims. Each month, Monteilh gets paid a total of 11 thousand USD.
"The FBI trained me in the teachings of Islam, the basic principles of Arabic, and just to mingle with the community and slowly integrate themselves as Muslim men," he said.
At first he thought the task performed the duty of a fighter FBI. However, he decided to quit because realizes that he has been spying on innocent people.
"They do not embrace the rhetoric of terrorists, but I still spy on them and give the FBI the information they want," said the two.
Monteilh case is not the first to reveal the tactics of FBI informant sent to the mosque. In 2009, Muslim groups threatened to suspend all contact with the FBI for sending informants into mosques.
