OJK will release new rules on corporate governance

Denpasar, Suarapemred.com - The Financial Services Authority immediately released new rules on good corporate governance or "Good Corporate Governance" (GCG), especially in terms of information disclosure to be more competitive when the implementation of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC).

"Before the first half ended, the rules were targeted to be released," said Chief Executive of the Capital Market Supervisory Financial Services Authority (FSA) Nurhaida during a press conference "ASEAN Brokers & Networking Conference 2015" titled "ASEAN and the ASEAN Exchanges Growth Potential Market" in Denpasar, Bali, on Saturday.

He added that to maintain the quality of Indonesian GCG be better, FSA invited about 100 public company or issuer to be present in order to give their opinions and expectations before the new rule was released.

"Rating the company we are still low in the ASEAN region in terms of corporate governance. For example, the website of the issuer still many who do not speak English and disclosure of information is still not specific," he said.

According Nurhaida, GCG ranked Indonesia is still relatively low compared to other countries in the ASEAN region. The condition is not comparable with the Indonesian capital market position among the top five.

"It is expected that the new rules on corporate governance, the company will earn points better Indonesia," he said.

In the near future, he added, will be held elections 50 best listed companies in ASEAN by capital market institutions in the region.

"Indonesia is expected that the company among the 50 companies with the best corporate governance. At least there are representatives and more would be better," he said.

In the same occasion, Director of the Indonesia Stock Exchange, Ito Warsito also recognizes that domestic issuers GCG ranked not as expected, but steadily improved. The low ranking is also not independent of differences in valuation benchmarks in their respective ASEAN countries.

"Assessor that me-rating consists of each country is different. So, they use the criterion of each. So different ways, depending also the result," he said.

Nevertheless, Ito Warsito said it will continue to seek to encourage the improvement of corporate governance that Indonesian issuers can be more competitive in the ASEAN level and eventually become an attraction for investors across the country to invest in Indonesian capital market.
