TOKYO. Tokyo stocks open 0.68% higher on Friday, breaking the level of 19,000, following a rally on Wall Street.

The Nikkei 225 index at the Tokyo Stock Exchange rose 128.47 points to 19119.58 in early trade.
Stocks on Wall Street on Thursday to stop the decline in two days in a row, jumped after the big US banks passed the test of endurance or "stress test" Bank of the US Federal Reserve and the dollar retreated from its highest level in 12 years.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 1.47% to 17895.22, while the broad-based index of the S & P 500 added 1.26% to 2065.95.
Member of the Dow, JPMorgan Chase and Goldman Sachs and other big banks rose sharply after the endurance test study of the Fed gave the green light to increase dividends and share buybacks.
The weakening of the yen also sustain the increase in index. Climbing the dollar against the yen is generally good for Japanese exporters, because it makes them more competitive abroad and increase the value of their profits when repatriated.
The dollar was trading at 121.32 yen, compared with 121.29 yen. The euro was changing hands at 1.0620 dollars and 128.90 yen against the dollar 1.0636 and 129.00 yen in New York.
