JAKARTA, [IFN] - Director of Trikomsel, Sugiono Wiyono, confirm SoftBank Group has acquired shares Trikomsel Oke Tbk.
It is said, the acquisition of shares was made on March 27, 2015 and Softbank Group has ownership for a total of 19.9% of the total shares issued Trikomsel.
This ownership does not result in a change of the controlling shareholder Trikomsel, which remains on Sugiono Wiyono. Trikomsel remains the largest shareholder owned by Polaris Ltd. amounting to 44.88% of total shares issued Trikomsel. Polaris Ltd is a company controlled and majority-owned by Sugiono Wiyono.
"On behalf of the management Trikomsel welcomed SoftBank become shareholders Trikomsel. He said, Indonesia is a vast market with 280 million mobile phone users are expected to become the third largest consumer base in the world. Smartphone users in the country is expected to grow from about 61.2 million in 2014 to 103.6 million in 2017.
Currently, 4G penetration in Indonesia is still low at about 5% of smartphone imported compared with Singapore, which has reached about 50-70% by February 2015.
