This year, BTN NPL target below 3%

JAKARTA - State Savings Bank (BTN) will focus suppress the ratio of nonperforming loans or non-performing loans (NPL) in this year. Understandably, the ratio of bank credit crunch on housing loan specialist is quite high in the past year. Based on the financial statements of BTN at the end of 2014, the gross NPL BTN still at a level of 4.01%.

The amount of NPLs actually has slightly decreased compared to the end of 2013 which reached 4.05%. The NPL ratio is still under provisions. Well, this year BTN will clean up the NPL and targeting non-performing loans could drop to below 3%.

Maryono, Director of BTN said, if in the past year BTN focus maintain liquidity, so this year it is more concentrated lower the NPL. According Maryono, BTN nonperforming loans in the past year contributed most of the NPL construction. In this loan segment, BTN many financing channel for non-subsidized housing.

On the other hand, there is a tightening of credit property through a policy loan to value (LTV). This policy makes the demand for property is reduced. "So that the velocity of money in the debtor becomes rather slow," said Maryono.

Referring to the financial statements BTN last year, the NPL ratio for construction loans reached 5.13%. The level of non-performing loans was the highest compared to all types of loans available in the BTN. Maryono added, BTN seeks to reduce the level of NPLs to below 3% by the end of this year. Only, he did not explain BTN strategy to reduce the ratio of non-performing loans.

"With the national economic situation like this, we are trying to anticipate from the beginning," said Maryono.

This year, banks are focused on playing in mortgages (mortgage) is targeting loan growth of 15% year on year. The target is equal to the growth in bank credit industry.
