BEKASI, West Java -- Department of Building and Housing Bekasi, West Java, ensure water supply to a number of slums in the local area is not suitable for consumption because it has been contaminated with domestic waste.
"The total slum in Bekasi there are 34 regions. The majority is in densely populated settlements," said Head of the Department of Building Settlement Settlement dam Bekasi City Arif Effendi in Bekasi on Monday.
According to him, the domestic waste derived from the disposal of household waste that pollutes water sources citizens.
"Even sometimes toxic and hazardous waste if it is consumed," he said.
According to him, the pollution caused by lifestyle of the people around are not good and rarely clean environment.
"Rules drainage and waste management while at the location it was not implemented properly," he said.
According to him, a number of territories in North Jakarta District and Sub-District Medansatria relatively high population of the slum with unsafe water supply.
"We never check to the location of settlements in Medansatria, it is already not ideal that region. The smell was overpowering when we visit these areas," he said.
"Not a few people who became ill Respiratory Infections (ARI)," he said.
